Southport Attractions

Southport is a classic English resort it lies on the coast just 20 miles north of Liverpool. It is a traditional Victorian seaside town which combines beautiful beaches, family attractions and the UK’s oldest iron pier with fantastic shopping, a superb choice of restaurants and world-class golf courses. Southport is also home to over 20 miles of unspoilt coastline and the largest area of undeveloped sand dunes in the UK. With extensive Pine woods, miles of coastal walks and several impressive parks & gardensit’s the perfect place to unwind and recharge your batteries.

Southport has always been a firm family favourite because of the choice of attractions on offer. Visit the town’s historic Pierthe second longest and oldest in the country or for some watery thrills and spills, Splash World water-park is ideal.

 

For all the fun of the fair New Pleasureland is a must and the excitement continues at Silcock’s Funland - the biggest family amusement centre in town. Just over the Marine Way Bridge is Ocean Plaza where you can catch a film or test your skittle skills at the bowling alley. Nearby at Marine Lake you can hop on board the Mississippi style paddle steamer the Southport Belle. Running around the edge of the lake is the Lakeside Miniature Railway perfect for soaking up the seafront sights. For quintessentially English attractions look no further then the British Lawnmower Museum – the only one of its kind. Feeling lively? Then visit the go karts on Southport’s seafront or the nearby crazy golf or pitch and putt.

Just out of town are three great family attractions too; WWT Martin MereWindmill Animal Farm and Farmer Ted’s.

A great way to see all of Southport’s sights is by bike – the town has its own low cost cycle hire scheme.
